Originally from Kansas City, Missouri, Dr. Tom Marcel did most of his growing up in San Jose. He attended Santa Clara University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Combined Sciences (biology, chemistry and physics). He went on to the University of California, San Francisco, where he received his dental degree and orthodontic specialty training.

Dr. Marcel has published articles relating to temporomandibular joint (TMJ) function and mandibular movement in professional journals and lectures to orthodontic and dental organizations throughout the U.S. and abroad. He also maintains teaching affiliation with the University of California San Francisco, University of the Pacific and the University of North Carolina.

He is co-founder and co-coordinator of the Livermore Community Dental Care, a non-profit organizations providing dental care and education to Livermore school children.

Dr. Marcel enjoys living in the Livermore community and has been involved in various civic programs such as coaching, sponsoring youth teams, Boys and Girls Club, scouts, local theaters and 4H clubs. His hobbies include reading, movies and cooking. As a sports nut, Dr. Marcel spends his time away from the office playing softball, running, bicycling and playing golf. Also a hockey enthusiast, Dr. Marcel is a big Sharks fan!
